WoT

Dazyk of Phaeros
We've all been talking about the WoT over on paizo (Week1 Stats on WoT).

Many people are saying that it is unfeasible to patrol all of the towers controlled by a settlement, to which I had the following idea:

"I think one solution is to have towers your company/settlement controls change colour on the map when they are in the process of being contested. EDIT: Thod suggested - Holdings window shows towers CURRENTLY being contested.

RP wise, you would have to think that we have scouts/attendants (non-combative) whom we position at the tower who would have magical means of communicating with the leadership when enemies have been sighted.

Game wise, it eliminates some of the man-hours, and also lets the people who WANT pvp to know exactly where to go.

Also, it creates much more room for strategic warfare.

'Two of our towers are being accosted. Is one just a decoy? Do we divide our troops and hope we have enough to beat the attackers down, or do we guess on which tower is the real stage and take the risk of being in the wrong place at the wrong time.' - Leaders everywhere."

To which some said:

"We don't want GW to waste time programming features for WoT that won't be useful for POIs, since WoT is temporary" [paraphrased, sorry Guurzak].

However; it makes sense that POIs will also need to be monitored, from a distance, by settlement leaders, as players can't be expected to sit around in their hexes every day during the PVP window to wait for attackers (and WON'T, anyway).

Also, this adds a whole bunch of elements to the territory control aspect of the game:

1. Tactics and Strategy (decoy/diversion from example above, as well as many many more)
2. Tension. Just because you KNOW your Tower/POI is being attacked DOESN'T mean you can organize and get there in time!

Lastly, we know already that the Holdings list on the company page updates when a Tower your settlement controls is usurped by another company; could that same tech be used to also show which towers are being contested?

That's all we really need. I don't think we should know WHO is attacking, or in how many numbers, etc., just that we ARE being attacked.

Are you certain of this? I thought they didn't update until the next server reset?

Are you certain of this?

100% certain.

When another Company captures a Tower that you held after the server reset, their name appears next to that Tower in the Holdings panel. This is how we tracked Golgotha's capture of 7 Towers from Phaeros Sunday night, and Phaeros's subsequent capture of 8 Towers from Golgotha the same night.
