Any update on the new combat alchemist buildings? Any plans for which update or when they will be added?

We haven't had a chance to work through all that yet, but we'll try to sort it out soon.

Nhur Athemon tastes defeat in Fort Ouroboros 2-3, leaving only 4 sequences remaining:

  • Unassigned (Fort Ouroboros 6-6): Currently on escalation 28 (Over the Crown) at 51340 strength.
  • Succinct Prime 3-3-4: Currently on escalation 26 (The Revenge of Nhur Athemon) at 100000 strength.
  • Canis Castrum 4-4: Currently on escalation 26 (The Revenge of Nhur Athemon) at 100000 strength.
  • Sunholm 5-5-6: Currently on escalation 22 (Dark Elves) at 39000 strength.

Those two settlements are surrounded by 2 or more different groups, so they are deadlocked an likely not going under ownership of anyone any time soon.

Fair point, I'll take that into consideration when thinking about what the ultimate fate of these settlements teaches us.

Azure_Zero
Right now the way active settlement is defined is too cheap for a settlement collector…

True, it's not particularly demanding to meet the minimum requirements right now, but at least they're more demanding than they were before. I can say that we have plans to ramp those requirements up again fairly soon, we're just being very careful about how we pace those increases.

Bob, is there some reason why I can't sell Elementary Alchemist's Tools +2 on the Cauchemar auction house, but I can sell the Expert's Bandolier +3, and the Expert's Formula Book +3 ?
Is this a known bug already?

Predictably, this was a copy-paste error where I forgot to change all but the Trainee Alchemist's Tools to Sellable. I've got a fix for that (and a few other reported Alchemist issues) ready to go into the next update. Hopefully we'll be able to deploy that soon.

We do intend to steadily increase the difficulty of holding on to a settlement. The recent updates to Settlement Warfare were just a first step in that direction and we've got others in mind. However, we're also trying not to drive too many players away if they're mostly here for those settlements, at least not if they're somewhat active. I'm personally very interested to see what happens to these two settlements, and what that tells us about how quickly we should be ramping up that difficulty.

I mistakenly thought this thread was about the bug where if your target dies it interrupts your heals smile

Well, that's no good. I'll double-check and make sure there's a bug report for that.

Firstly, my obligatory whine about the LOS issue - despite all the explanations and reasons I've been given, it still seems to me that if I am fighting something and cannot attack it because I don't have LOS, it should also not be able to attack me. (Specifically at the moment I am recalling an exchange where I was surrounded by Goblin Dogs and taking ranged fire at the same time… targetting the ranged annoyance yielded LOS issues for me, although he was actively landing attacks from a standstill.) That said…

There will always be at least some cases where the server and client disagree on determining LOS too much to reconcile fairly, but we'll keep working on it to make it feel as good as possible. The best I can say at this point is that we're quite certain that any time a mob manages to attack you, the server definitely believes you have LOS to that mob at that moment, and would immediately fire off any attack you have queued up at that moment that was only being blocked by LOS (you might still be out of range or stunned or whatever). You may not see the animation go off, and the damage done to the mob might not be clear because various delays, but the attack will happen if it's queued up and meets all its other requirements. Of course, that requires ignoring the client's claim that you lack LOS and queuing up the attack anyway, and not firing off an attack on another target in the meantime, so I admit that can be a bit of cold comfort.

I've leveled up enough to be able to work low-level escalations, and have noticed that Goblin Bombers will start an attack animation after I have struck them a blow. (I'm going on the assumption that landing an attack is intended to also serve as an interrupt, or that they would at least have to roll for it.) Initially, I wrote it off as an artifact of the animation timings or lucky rolls. I decided to go ahead and bring it up because I noticed I was taking damage from bombs thrown after Goblin Bombers had fallen over dead. (It has happened more than once, I made sure I wasn't just seeing things there.)

Interrupt is a bit tricky because only attacks that can interrupt (either through an explicit Interrupt or another movement-limiting effect like Stun) will actually interrupt an attack, and even then only if it lands during the incoming attack's Interrupt Phase, assuming it has one. We did have some plans for an attack restriction called Easily Interruptible, which I don't have the documentation for in front of me at home, but my recollection is that it was meant to make attacks be interrupted by any damage taken during the Interrupt Phase, not just explicit interruptions. However, no attacks currently have that restriction, so damage alone will currently never interrupt an attack.

Rhethwyn
Death is the ultimate (and undeniable) interrupt. Even if there is magic that is powerful enough to keep something alive until after it completes an action it initiated before receiving a death-blow, such magic oughtn't be in the hands of Goblins.

I agree with you there. It's possible there's just a tricky timing issue, with the damage done before the goblin died but not showing up on the client until after you see the goblin die, but I'll file a bug report to look into it further and figure out what fixes are needed.

BTW, the grass looks great!

Doesn't it though? smile

Any chance the Light and Cloth armour prof requirements can be updated to include the new Alchemist armours?

Good catch. Yes, I will review the advancement settings for those proficiency feats and update accordingly. We'll try to put out an update reasonably soon to clear out any roadblocks Alchemists are facing, so keep reporting these issues as you find them.

Given this game's population…….
It's just better to just make them NPC shield hexes to stop any settlement collectors out there.

I've been sorely tempted to do something along those lines, but then every once in a while I'll hear from someone who wants to try their hand at running a settlement and doesn't have the opportunity to do so because they're all taken. Hopefully the requirements for claiming an abandoned settlement involve enough work, and are easily enough blocked by other players, that it's not worth doing unless someone actually wants to run a real settlement.

Azure_Zero
And most of us know of who one of the Settlement Collectors is/are, with what 4-5 settlements and a number of them with only a single company with a single character (likely a free trial mode character as well), and running the settlement as cheaply as possible without it being inactive.

Free Trial Mode characters can't own settlements, and I do review the owners once in a while to make sure they're still active. You're correct that it is still possible to keep a settlement active with fairly limited effort, but at least there's some effort involved between the DI and upkeep requirements.

Sunholm and Canis Castrum have just been declared Abandoned, making them both subject to the rules for claiming abandoned settlements listed at the end of the Settlement Warfare page. Any group of cooperating companies that manages to surround either settlement with a full complement of active holdings and outposts (or perhaps has already done so) can contact me at customer.support@pathfinderonline.com to stake their claim. Each settlement has a fair variety of +0 structures available for just 1 gold coin each, though both settlements do still need a Keep +0 to place more structures or to get full settlement management capabilities. Have at it!
