Once spreading is ready to turn on again (I believe it is coming up very soon in the road map) will it be enabled as soon as its ready or will it be only turned on once these left over T3 escalations have all been cleared.

Yes, that's scheduled for OE 3, so we'll start working on it as soon as the Alchemists are finished up. The plan is to only allow certain escalations to spread, so we can always hold off on any of the ones that are still lingering in the sequences. We could also introduce all the spreading escalations as technically new escalations, and either phase out the previous ones as they're completed or keep them in the mix for variety. We certainly don't want any incomplete sequences to suddenly become that much harder, so we'll do something to keep that from happening.

We'd like to include ammo enchanting, but there's a bit of extra work involved to let ammo pass that much information into the attacks, so we left it for later. It also felt like something that would make the desire to switch ammunition mid-battle even more compelling, so we might want to hold off until we're able to implement something to make that easier as well.

The scrollwheel capability is quite possible, and a few of the scrollable windows already use it. The only problem is that we have to add it to each scrollable area separately, so it's not a quick universal fix. We do have it in our bug database as a feature request and plan to get to it eventually.

Arrow keys are a little bit trickier because we don't tend to enforce the concept of a primary/active/focused window. If you had two scrollable windows open, like a vault plus your inventory, we wouldn't be sure which window to scroll.

Enter has the issue of currently being used to start a chat entry, but any key used to mean essentially "do the main button on the screen" would also run into the issue of multiple windows.

We could potentially implement something where we highlighted the current button/scrollbars that various keys would activate. We already kind of do that for text entry, where once a cursor is in a field all the keys are locked to text entry, but that's a special case. I suspect keeping track of primary scrollbars/buttons would be a fair amount of work, but I'll file a feature request to consider it when we have a chance.

In your terminology, is there any difference between a "Free Trial Mode" character and an "Inactive" character?

Nope, those terms are interchangeable.

Did I miss the *feedback* and *final round of debate and polish* somewhere in the last three days?

Not exactly, there just wasn't a lot of feedback, so there didn't seem much need for debate. Likewise, I was able to take the feedback I did get into account pretty quickly, and polish it up a little bit while I did.

That said, I'm always willing to revisit these rules, even right after they've been posted. Anyone whose got feedback, fire away at any time.

And with that, I've posted the updated rules to the Settlement Warfare page and am declaring them official.

Made one quick addition to the original post, giving whichever company overruns the siege engines or holdings in a hex neighboring the defending settlement during a war the exclusive right to decide who replaces those buildings the next day. This is honestly something I'd like to enforce all the time, but just can't do manually on a regular basis. Hopefully we'll be able to look into tech for this when we're focused on PvP for OE 5.

Could you please define what the difference between an inactive character and an inactive alt character is?

I was trying to use "alt" in the sense it often seemed to be used under the old subscription model, where an account had its main characters training and then one or two untrained alts. Perhaps that's not the best term, since one can think of all their characters as alts, or any Free Trial Mode character as an alt.

The important point moving forward is that all inactive characters will be treated identically, whether they're on an account with other active characters or not.

FYI, I edited the Leadership Challenges page to reflect the switch to Per Character Subscriptions. Basically, I switched anything about "characters on active accounts" to "active characters," since there's no such thing as an active account anymore, just active or inactive characters. This isn't exactly a rule change, more just a clarification of how active and inactive are now determined throughout the game.

Inactive alts can still be company leaders, just as inactive characters always could, and they can still survive any leadership challenges simply by logging into the game, even in Free Trial Mode. However, inactive alt leaders can no longer survive challenges simply by emailing a veto or protest, and inactive alt members can no longer challenge their company leadership or be considered for promotion to leadership if all leaders are removed.

Removed references to active accounts on the original post, since the more appropriate requirement now would be an active character.
