I think someone forgot to update the News in the patcher to include mention of EE17.

Also XP boost does not seem to of activated.

We're running the script to grant XP shortly, after which I'll put up the blog post.

And to clarify, the patcher pulls the News from the blogs.

Yes, each hex has its own server, and sometimes that means an individual hex will start having problems. Daily Maintenance usually sorts things out, and we'll take a closer look at that particular hex after today's rollout of EE 17.

These are the Preliminary Release Notes for Early Enrollment v17. We deployed a Final Candidate for EE 17 to the Test Server on Wednesday, May 15. We plan to deploy EE 17 to Live during Daily Maintenance on Monday, May 20, assuming it performs well during final testing.

What Is In This Release

This release adds Free Trial Mode, allowing inactive accounts to log into the game and try out the latest build, though with some gameplay limitations (e.g. support restricted to level 6, no influence earned, no XP granted over time, can’t participate in territorial PvP games). Because trial characters aren’t granted XP over time, the initial amount of XP for new characters is now 75,000, and all characters that originally started with 1,000 XP will be automatically granted 74,000 XP to make up the difference. As always, multiple other improvements were also made to various systems in order to keep steadily improving the overall player experience.

Full Release Notes

Free Trial Mode:
  • Accounts can log in to the game whether or not they're active.
  • Free Trial Mode characters don't earn XP over time. Those set to train will show up as Training XP (Paused) on the character selection screen.
  • Free Trial Mode characters don't earn influence for their company.
  • Free Trial Mode characters are limited to Support Level 6.
  • Free Trial Mode characters don't earn points in capture/raid games, but do earn points defending against NPC invaders and defending harvesting sites.

Experience Points:
  • New characters start out with 75,000 XP, and all characters who originally started with 1,000 XP will be given 74,000 XP.
  • Training feats and learning expendables now has a confirmation stage before the XP is spent.

Miscellaneous:
  • Daily Maintenance is more aggressive about recovering from failures.
  • Edited typos in Finding Your Path, Skull-Basher Ogres and Undying Ogg.
  • Fixed some random encounters where goblins and elementals were odd couples.
  • Moved shutdown signs to proper locations on Loom, Smeltmill and Weaponmaster Structures.

The build is doing great on Zog, passed all the important test cases, but for various scheduling reasons we've decided Monday is the best day to deploy it to Live. Again, any of you who'd like to check it out before then and need test access, just email customer.support@pathfinderonline.com and I'll set you up. Same goes if you need anything on the test server, like XP, coins, equipment, achievements, teleports…

Is there going to be some level of involved play between free trial and full subscription? If a player enjoys the game without a full subscription, will there be a setting that she can get higher than lvl 6 support?

For instance, such an individual could get to the point (buying or trading for and converting Azoth) that they would need more than support at only lvl 6, couldn't they?

Yes, a character could get beyond what's covered by Support Level 6 through our eventual ability to buy XP with Azoth, or through game months purchased with Azoth, or of course through game months purchased directly. However, Free Trial Mode is only meant to let players (both new and returning) give the game a try on the latest build for free, with the goal of getting them to activate (or reactivate) their accounts, whether through direct/subscription purchases or by trading Azoth for game months. It's not meant to be a feasible way to play the game indefinitely, and limiting support is an important part of that.

Assuming all works out well on Zog, when will this be rolled out to the Live Server?

We're hoping to deploy this build as soon as possible. At a stretch, that could even mean tomorrow morning, since the build has actually been on Zog since yesterday and successfully went through Daily Maintenance this morning, which is one of our final stability tests. More likely we'd be looking at Friday or Monday morning.

There's a new build up on Zog (the test servers) with Free Trial Mode activated. I'll post some more official preliminary release notes soon, but here are the basics:

  • Accounts can log in to the game whether or not they're active. On Zog, Test Server Access is also required. Send email to customer.support@pathfinderonline.com if you'd like to take a look at the update before it goes to the Live server.
    • Free Trial Mode characters don't earn XP over time. Those set to train will show up as Training XP (Paused) on the character selection screen.
    • Free Trial Mode characters don't earn influence for their company.
    • Free Trial Mode characters are limited to Support Level 6.

Exactly, if your attack's secondary effects, whether positive or negative, are the most important aspect to you, then you want ammo that focuses on boosting your effect power. If the direct damage aspect is the most important, then you want want ammo that focuses on boosting your base damage. If you bounce back and forth, then you want more balanced ammo.
Bob
There was, but it's all fixed now.
