I'm working on updating the blog as what terrains are good at what have changed slightly:

Coastlands: Highest Fish rating, average Wood and Game. The Fish rating of a Costland hex is higher than the Highest rating for other resources and higher than the Fish rating in a Swamplands hex because Coastland hexes do not have a high rated resource, only a highest and two averages.
Croplands: Highest Crops rating, high Herds rating, average Ore rating.
Highlands: Highest Stone rating, high Ore rating, average Herds rating.
Mountains: Highest Ore rating, high Stone rating, average Game rating.
Swamplands: High (would be highest but for the abnormal rating of Coastland Fish) Fish rating, high Wood rating, Average Ore rating.
Woodlands: Highest Wood rating, high Game rating, average Stone rating.
Brokenlands: While you cannot build holdings and outposts in brokenlands, they great increase the Ore rating in all neighboring hexes.

The reason for this is every terrain type and every hex in the game is worth the same amount of total points of resources. Having points in things rated poor meant points were being allocated to options that were already bad choices, making some hexes noticeably less valuable on the off chance someone wanted to build a fishery in the mountains. To avoid that the ratings aside from the three listed for each hex have been reduced to 0, which means each hex will still have a number of options but what it is good at will not suffer so it can be bad at something else.

Also I wanted to explain the role the brokenlands have on the ratings.

Hey Lee;

Just curious how the now 0 ratings for resources affects Trading posts, which give a slight boost to Trade Goods from all Outpost types. Does this mean that any outpost that would normally NOT produce Trade Goods will produce them? Or is a slight boost of nothing still nothing?

Thanks!

I'm not really sure I understand what is being described here…

Can we have some definitions/analysis please?

Thanks Thod!

So, if we were to place arbitrary numbers in for the value of resources in a hex, it would look something like this:

Hex Type-C-F-G-H-O-S-W
Coastlnds-0-4-1-0-0-0-1
Croplands-3-0-0-2-1-0-0
Highlands-0-0-0-1-2-3-0
Mountains-0-0-1-0-3-2-0
Smplands-0-3-0-0-1-0-2
Woodlnds-0-0-2-0-0-1-3

Where:
C=Crops
F=Fish
G=Game
H=Herds
O=Ore
S=Stone
W=Wood

I have updated the 'Bulk' tab on my PFO reference sheets (see the link below) with this information.

I've tried to map it out in my reference sheets as well, but it is a little incomplete. (Click the link in my signature, then go to the 'Training' tab )

@Guurzak: how do you think your chart translates in to the by-settlement-type training math that Lee gave us? Any help is much appreciated.

I agree with this. I think it would be cool, and make sense, rp-/lore-wise. I also think they should be Tier 2, at a minimum–they are our 'dungeons' (for now) and should be challenging/dangerous.

There have been problems with features that USED to work, but no longer do. I am concerned that this is one of those features.

I will add, and not in an effort to diminish the feedback Fanndis has written above, that my ten year old son started playing the game and was easily able to follow the directions of the tutorials (he didn't do the crafting one). Granted, I was with him and he asked a few minor questions (that someone in Help could easily have answered).

Over all, I think that is a sign that the tutorials are heading in the right direction.

I noticed today, while playing in a party with my son, that I was not gaining a Weapon Expert achievement when a party member landed the killing blow. It happened twice, once while I had my weapon sheathed (which I thought could be the reason, although the Blog states that any party member within visual range should get the achievement) and once when I had my weapon drawn.

Because I am not 100% certain, I would ask for a few volunteers to test this out for themselves and report back here; I would test more if I was able, but I cannot at the moment.

Thank you!
