this reminds me of another question I've had regarding how to read Feats:

Stagger reads: …Base Damage +10 if Target has Opportunity

Does that mean, +10 on THIS attack? Or is it +10 to the NEXT attack?

Is the answer to the above the same for Improved Critical?

Thanks!

I must politely disagree. smile

Like I said, in order to even do any damage on the ranged pvp'ers in Brighthaven the other day, it was necessary to use a gap-closer… Otherwise I would have just been running around in circles, chasing people (I have NO ranged powers).

I think the damage on the weapon charges, in addition to the low cooldown, far outweigh the low(er) stamina and non-existent damage (bullrush is .68 iirc, charge is 0) of the Utility closers. Bullrush (which is only 10m, normal charge is 20m) does an additional knockback (which really doesn't help Melees close gaps at all…smile, Charge has immobilize IF the target has opportunity (which only lasts 2 seconds). So that's still 16 seconds the Melee has to wait before he can close with the Ranged again.

Oh, I don't have a big problem with it, in fact I always have the Charge/Evade Feat of a weapon slotted in my secondary; I'm just thinking along those "having to do it because it is the only viable option" lines.

Additionally, if no one is using Charge/Bullrush because they aren't as efficient as the weapon charges, then they may qualify for the 'broken' category. I, personally, feel like that may be the case.

I agree with Urman, and the others.

I hated playing those 'other' games where you have 30+ abilities on your bar… trying to remember which one to press at which time, blah blah blah.. No thanks.

Hey all;

I think we have talked about this before, but I've been thinking about this again lately… the viability of Utility Gap-Closers like Charge.

When we had our huge PVP battle in Brighthaven last week, I found myself almost constantly spamming my charge abilities (Gore, and Lunge) in order to try to stay close to people. Even in PVE, especially in group play, a melee character veritably MUST use charge constantly in order to keep up with the Ranged characters.

Charge or Bullrush would never work for this purpose with their 18 second cooldowns. It effectively means that any melee character who wants to be effective will HAVE to sacrifice that one secondary slot, and probably on EACH of their weapon swaps, for a weapon charge ability.

This is unfortunate, because it reduces the 'chain'ing (TM Proxima Sin) of weapon feats together because we will always have one less secondary (technically) than a ranged character would have.

I'm not sure what the fix is for this, but it seems to me like the cooldown factor is the biggest hurdle… I wouldn't even mind if the stamina cost went up for the utilities while the CD went down. I'd gladly pay the extra Stam to be able to free-up a slot on my secondaries.

Anyway, I don't know if anyone else has had the same thoughts. Let's chat about it smile

There's also a possibility that you're getting an interrupted message when you try to use something and can't because you're currently knocked down (or you got knocked down during Validation and then it gets to Followthrough and sees that you're ineligible because you're currently on your butt)?

It was the "gutglut biters"*, so there were plenty of opportunities for me to be on my butt. I seem to remember plenty of times that I was on my butt I wasn't even able to initiate Flare, but will need to test - boy, that's gonna be danger-fun smile

* This should surprise precisely no one, but it really bugs me that mob names don't have a consistent capitalization scheme. I've seen "bandit archer" and "Bandit Archer" and I don't think there's any meaningful information being conveyed by the difference; although I do believe the "Bandit Archer" is always an Escalation-spawned mob. If I'm wrong (not that unlikely), and there is actually meaningful information being conveyed by whether or not the mob name is capitalized, I'd love to know.

This really bugs me too. More-so when hovering over the escalation icon and seeing the name in lower case.

Also: danger-fun is the new word of the day!

Channel is the color of the chevrons (and the color of the DoT overlay on your hit points).

Submission is Afflicted, Exhausted, and Frightened. It should be tan. (You can't actually see Exhausted yet, but it is on that channel.)
Weakness is Bleeding, Oblivious, and Drained. It should be dark red. (You can't see Oblivious yet, because there's a bug with the attack penalty not showing up that we're filing now.)
Torment is Burning, Slowed, and Razed. It is orange.

I just filed a bug because the colors for Submission and Weakness are backwards right now. When you put Bleeding on someone, the down chevron is tan but the HP overlay is dark red. When you put Afflicted on someone the down chevron is dark red but the HP overlay is tan. When you put Burning on someone, the HP overlay and down chevrons are both orange. I confirmed they're consistently flipped, though, so until that's fixed all the submission and weakness debuffs will be the opposite colors, but still distinct.

Can you tell us what the colours are for the Beneficials, as well?

Extraordinary
Supernatural
Intentional(not beneficial, I know)
Special (Interrupt?)

Thank you!

Well, this was a much bigger project than I had originally anticipated, but I think it was well worth it.

Please feel free to view and download the PDF here. (This article is from the PFO wiki, however, most people cannot view it there without significant hardship. That is why I have PDF'd it.)

I will also politely request that Nihimon link the file in the Public Shared Folder so that everyone can view/share.

Also, please share your comments and feedback here.
