So who said being an ambassador was boring? Gorim Goldhammer and myself are the diplomatic outreach members. Gorim is the leader of Forgeholm and I am the Ambassador. And, we do have a diverse membership, with several Elves and Humans (the “Dwarf Friends” part of our recruiting campaign).

Sheila Silverwind is a member in good standing of Forgeholm and has her own voice and can say whatever she likes. She does not, however, represent the views of Forgeholm. Doing that accurately and persistently is my job, after Gorim Goldhammer and the Elder Council hammer out Forgeholm’s position.

This is a good opportunity to point out that Phyllian himself stated he did not directly control the members of Golgotha. I was trying to work out a deal where Forgeholm and Golgotha would allow gatherers into each others’ area. Phyllian stated : “I have 100 Golgothans running around that mountain. Some of them will miss the notification. I don't want to say I’m putting you guys on a white list and then have you die.” So, convincing members to all be on the same page all the time is hard. But we will work on it.

(We can discuss the Lawful vs. Chaotic issue as well if you like, as I will be present at the PFU presentation on Wednesday.)

The mechanic of supported training is my least favorite thing about this game. I really hope they give up on it.
People quit games like this when they loose cities. It's going to be even worse if not only do you loose your city and all your hard work but you loose character advancement. Its one more nail in the coffin that is PFO.

If you lose your settlement, join another like minded settlement. That seems perfectly reasonable. If I understand the mechanics correctly, you do not lose advancement or known skills. You do lose the ability to use the known skills because you no longer have the support of a settlement. (I think there is a 30-day timer on the skill loss as well.) Characters have plenty of time to get another sponsor.

Also, the use of the "Bring Back" is as if PvP has been the aspect of MMOs that has failed. The theme park MMO market is as tough as it is because the PvE content is repetitive, unchallenging and has been done to death. PvP in most theme park MMOs has failed to end the cycle of "play for a few months, then leave", because it is predictable, consensual and lacks any real skill or risk.

Tyv, you are assuming everyone else wants to play games the same way you do, but that's just not the case. It seems all you want to do is PvP with no consequences. Most of us in PFO want to do lots of other stuff, like build, explore, and be part of a community. PvP was fun and exhilarating way back in UO, but more recent incarnations of PvP just do not have meaningful interactions. PvP just to PvP is not fun for most players. That's why the market has so many other options with large populations. I'll give PFO a chance over time to see if it can combine the thrill of PvP on a larger scale, with settlement construction and formation combat. That's what I am waiting for, but I know it'll take a few ore years to see if it works.

I found when you use the "Refresh" button or F5 key the "Buddy Key Invitation" screen duplicates the email invitation. I didn't realize it until I had done it twice, and the recipient obviously won't be using the duplicate key (or at least I don't think they can). Just a heads-up for other folks sending out invites, and to GW for erroneous invitations.

For what it's worth, in a year that "lost" month won't mean much, and like KarlBob said, you might find you need those trained sills some day.

I don't know if anyone else is posting as often as I am I other player forums, or game sites, but so far I have given out around 20 Buddy Keys. The feedback so far is varied. Some players report they can't run the game (I assume they have an old video card), a few have stated they just wanted to check it out, but most seem interested in Forgeholm (Fanndis has a pretty directed and focused pitch for Dwarves and the Dwarven settlement of Forgeholm).

Give out your Buddy Keys. You can get plenty more. Let players in the wider game world see your comments in other game sites' forums. Post and talk about PFO. That's where the new players are.

Gudrun's post does say "account" an not "character", and there would be some abuse. But the alternative is losing many potential subscribers. It is a choice players must make, but also a choice must make if they want to keep some of the new Buddy Key testers.

Forgeholm will be choosing, or at least voting in support of, Torag (LG, Hammer), Bolka (NG, Mace), and Magrin (LN, Warhammer). Those three allow us to cover six of the nine alignments, and largely excludes chaos and evil, which is where a Dwarf would naturally be. Sure, there are Dwarves that choose chaos, or evil or both! But they are unnatural! There is little love lost for Droskar in the Five Kings, as he tainted their history.

Sounds good. I feel like outpost efficiency should have been something that was shared during the Landrush, but such is life in an actively developed game. Hopefully my little Golgotha won't be hit too hard by living on our relatively little mountain, else we might be taking a few more jaunts into those big ones in the corners of the map smile

Perhaps not. smile
