Bob, you gave a nice clear answer recently to how crafting figures into influence generation - every refining & crafting job completed gives exactly the same amount of influence regardless of Tier or amount produced. (please correct me if wrong here). I was wondering if you could give the same clear response about anything else in the game that generates influence? Firstly, is it just killing mobs (and crafting) that generate influence or do other things that you *do* in the game also generate influence (like earning achievements for various things, completing escalation events, selling or buying things in the AH, gathering from nodes, etc)? For any of these activities, is the influence generation as simple and straightforward as crafting, or is it more complicated with diminishing returns etc? (like less influence for the 988th goblin killed than the 8th goblin killed).

Thanks!

I am seeking the services of a Spellcrafter who knows the Rare Emerald Defense Stone recipe. If that is you, and you are amenable to helping me craft one, please PM me here. If that doesn't work, then please contact me (Xyzzy) in-game.

Thanks!

Just to be clear - I still *claim* the swamp monster hex as my own, even though I now live far away. Gather there at your own risk smile

The door to Arvandi's shop opened slowly. Arvandi looked up from counting his silver with a slight frown - he had done a brisk business in exchanging the lodestone and coal that people either dropped off or bought today and was just about ready to close up shop. Well, business is business he thought cheerfully and placed his coins stacks carefully back in the strong box before turning his attention to his new customer.

The tall man who had walked in was covered from head to toe in some kind of blackish muck, and he stunk to the Seventh Heavens of swamp gas and decay. Only the pure white strip of hair that went down the middle of his head from forehead to neck and the shortbow that seemingly never left his hand were clean and unsullied. He placed a large pile of pelts upon the counter that he had been carrying on his back and grinned a reddish smile down at Arvandi. Been chewing too much bloodflower gum by the look of him the merchant thought sadly before saying, "How may I help you good sir?"

"Got a good haul of perfectly smooth Shadowskins here," said the muck covered man as he lovingly stroked the iridescent pile of purple skins. "I don't normally sell them, but, well, I find that I need some coin to make some needed purchases at Maker's General Store, so I thought I would let some of my best skins here travel into broader circulation. Arrows aint cheap these days, not the good ones anyway, so give me your best fair price for these treasures and I'll be on my way."

Arvandi almost laughed out loud but quickly covered it with a cough - it wouldn't do to offend customers, especially this one by the looks of him. "Well sir, ah, these are not really in high demand at the moment." Arvandi doesn't like the scowl that immediately comes over the dirty man's face at his words so quickly offers, "Maybe you have some Pine you were looking to sell instead? Pine is fetching a fine price right now." Arvandi smiles, wishing he had closed shop 5 minutes earlier today.

"Not in demand? Not? In? Demand? These are the rarest pelts this side Varisia!" The muck covered man slammed his fist down upon the counter to make his point. "First I cannot sell my precious Dragonskins and now you tell me my Shadowskins are worthless?!"

Arvandi pales. As the man has gotten more agitated an angrier his voice has actually gotten softer and quieter. "No, no, not worthless, not worthless…just, well, not worth what they once were?" Arvandi offers up hopefully, his voice coming out as a high pitched squeak on the last word.

The muck covered man slaps himself in the neck, hard, and a small rivulet of blood trickles down it as he moves his hand away. He causally flicks the mosquito away - which Arvandi now notices have come in with the man from outside and seem to dance and circle him like sick children around the maypole. The man then takes a small pouch from his belt and places it on the counter. A deep purplish black stain can be seen almost leaking from the bottom of it.

"And these," he says as he open the pouch for Arvandi to see into, "are these not in demand……either?"

The man's gaze has gone very cold and hard and Arvandi gulps audibly. "I am VERY very sorry sir, but, um, those have become quite a bit more common now too." Arvandi offers a weak smile and a slight shrug, not sure how exactly to proceed. The muck covered man stares at Arvandi for what seems like an eternity. Arvandi feels a cold sweat break out on his brow, yet strangely, he can't tear his gaze away from the dozen or so mosquitoes that are all over the man's face, filling themselves up with the man's blood until they are the size or ripe raspberries. How disgusting Arvandi thinks and he shudders involuntarily, but he is suddenly jerked back to his senses as the man slams a bag of coins down on the counter which Arvandi knows, just by the sound, is filled with gold.

"Fine. I guess that's it then." His gaze hardens even more as the mosquitoes on his face keep feeding. "I'll take 4 large Mule Bags instead." The mosquito covered man glares down at Arvandi, seemingly daring him to suggest he doesn't have such things in stock.

"Yes, well, four you say? Well, ah, moving quite a bit of goods I guess. Yes, I have had four in stock for over a year now - most people request the mediums." Arvandi places the magical bags gingerly on the counter, "Um, these are rather expensive you understand?"

The man slowly slides the coin pouch across the counter toward Arvadi. Almost impossibly, the mosquitoes on the man's face have grown to the size of cherry tomatoes and are still getting bigger…

"There's goona be a reckoning 'bout this. No way there can't be." The man grits his teeth and brings his face closer to Arvandi's, "You tell anyone who comes by that the Swamp Monster no longer has a leash, that his tether to the swamp has been cruelly severed and he's going to roam the lands where there aint no laws, free to do as he see fit, and beholden to no one."

Arvandi feels a moment of empathy at the pain clearly written across the man's features, but just then the man's grimace deepens and the bulbous blood filled mosquitoes all POP at once, spraying Arvandi in a shower of blood. "GROSS!" thinks Arvandi as he wipes his face and the man takes the mule bags and leaves, "the Aragonians can have him and good riddance!" He quickly throws the bolt on the door before sitting down to resume counting his days profits. He doesn't feel the mosquito slowly sinking its proboscis into the back of his neck….
