I think making all new accounts DT accounts is an excellent idea. It would help new players feel like they are getting more for their money and give them added flexibility within the game. This also seems like it should be a fairly simple thing to set-up, rather than all this messy back-dating or buying of xp. I also agree (strongly) that WE, the current player base, do not need any more boosts or boons to our power curve (including buying back-dated xp) over new players beyond what we have already earned and paid for.

As to how to help new players feel relevant, well, not sure….how do other games do that? If I started playing Wow or Eve today (I have never played either btw) would the game do anything special for me to make me feel rapidly as powerful/relevant as someone who has been playing regularly for three years? Remember too, that the population right now is VERY small, so small that we will be in the vast minority once the ToT come in and get up to speed (and to T2) in about 60 days.

I think you can probably get to about 16 by going to Recovery 10, Great Fortitude 5 and Encumbrance 7. You should meet the CON requirements for all those, and there's a good chance you meet most of the other requirements, though it's certainly possible you need more of some specific Category Points for some of those. Once you're at 16, you can then pick up Fortitude 10 and Hit Points 20, which would get you a little over another 1/2 point. You'd also get .18 CON by taking the other armor feat to rank 9. There are probably a few other sources of CON that you'd find directly useful, but they probably aren't very efficient, so I'm not sure how much more you could get easily.

I admit that still leaves almost 3 1/2 points to go, and that much probably does require branching out a bit more. Miner would be a great way to go, and could actually get you all the way there, but I know from experience how slow it can be hitting those gathering achievements. The fastest route would probably be to pick up some ranks in Sawyer, Smelter and/or Tanner. Those are all theoretically useful, at least in that you can sell their output, but I also know crafting's not everyone's cup of tea.

And, of course, even if I let Dragoon 14 count for the feat prerequisite, you'd still have to meet those ability requirements unless I threw on something like a Strength=30 alternative as well. That could work, but is admittedly starting to get a bit convoluted. These things get complicated fast.

Sure, there are various ways to get Con in the game and some of them are even useful to a Heavy Weapon combat toon and requiring Con 16 is perfectly reasonable. Requiring Con 20 is not. (I do appreciate you looking into it and posting your thoughts, even though I disagree that it is fine left as is).

ps - Non Cleric Heavy melee fighters don't need ammo (thank Abadar!) AND are the most under-utilized build in the game. Being able to use Medium armor would have certainly helped with that.

Thanks for the detailed analysis Bob (and I tend to agree with everything you said). I may be wrong here, but I think you are missing the fact that you need a 20 ability score to train level 3 of an armor proficiency? So to move from Dragoon 14 to wearing a medium armor I would need to reach level 20 in constitution, which would represent quite a bit more xp than what you have detailed. Please let me know if I am looking at this wrong. Thanks.

Now tokens, they've got a more complicated history. Finding ways to make them feel more useful without undermining the value of crafted consumables is something I do want to revisit soon, but it's going to require some careful thought and will likely have to wait until some much higher priority features get worked on.

Or you could get rid of tokens entirely (or at least most of them) and have the mobs drop something else instead. If there were a lot less tokens dropped then there would be a lot more call for Alchemists and Apothecaries and help tune the economy like ammo is doing. Just my 2cp.
